About

Hey, Friend! I’m Christie! I am a Bible teacher, speaker, and writer.

Just a girl who loves Jesus, her wild and crazy family, and planning gatherings for friends, family, and strangers – with a big heart and an open door. In Jeremiah 29:13, God tells us if we seek him with our whole heart, we will find him. I have found this to be true time and time again. And one way I seek and find God is through the practice of hospitality.

Hospitality

I love a themed party! Matching table decor, party wares, and balloon arches – oh my!

During Covid, I was sitting on my back deck after hosting a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner complete with perfectly executed Southern Living recipes , pumpkin decor a plenty, and a perfectly spaced seating arrangements. I sat down with my plate and realized everyone else was done. Some were even leaving. I missed it. I missed the party I had looked so forward to because I was so busy ensuring correct food temperatures were maintained and all the tea glasses were full and every spill was wiped up.

I began to evaluate the motivation behind my hospitality. Was it to have the perfect table with the perfect meal? Or was it to be with family and share a little of what we have with those I love? This “aha” moment led me down a road to discover biblically defined hospitatity and what really matters when having friends, family, or even strangers over.

I love Jesus and hospitality is my favorite way to share him with those around me!

I still love matching things and yummy dinners, but I have learned to loosen the grip of perfection and instead focus on the people that come to enjoy the food and company.

At my table, you will find my husband and other people I love on a regular basis. Some nights are reserved for bible study with friends both old and new. Still other nights are reserved for getting to know the people we meet as we go about our daily lives. At the holidays and some Sundays after church, you will find all or part of our big beautiful family.

Super Fun Facts

  • I LOVE to try out Southern Living recipes when it is the most high stakes. You know? Like when 65 people are coming to dinner and if it flops I have no backup.
  • I say I don’t like animals, but the truth is I get so attached I cannot stand to lose them.
  • Pink with sparkles is my favorite! Notebooks, pens, t-shirts, purses, every single thing that is pink with sparkles I love it!
  • I loathe having my picture taken for any reason. I am super thankful that my friend agreed to take these pics and help me through my disdain.
